Being a "first" is a strange kind of lonely. You're the one in your family, your field, or your friend group doing the thing nobody around you has done before. There's nobody to call who's been exactly where you are now. And the rooms that were supposed to help (the mixers, meetups, and networking events) mostly made it worse. You'd leave with a pocket full of contacts and no actual connection.

Our founder, Colin Rocker, knew that feeling firsthand. As @careercolin, he built an audience of hundreds of thousands by talking honestly about work - the parts of building a career nobody teaches you when you're figuring it out without a blueprint. The advice reached millions. But advice travels one way. What people kept asking for was a room.

So in early 2025, he built one. Not another mixer, but a monthly gathering in New York with just two rules: no job titles, and no pitching. Instead of small talk, we shared thoughtful discussion prompts. Instead of "what do you do," people talked about who they are and what they're building towards.

The goal was simple: put impressive people in a good room, give them a real question, and watch what happens next.
